Biomedical Engineering around us
The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology has been holding an unusual series of popular science lectures entitled “Biomedical Engineering Around Us” at our centre since April 2021.
As part of the project, once a month we organise meetings for young people, including secondary school students, during which we answer questions such as:
- What can a biomedical engineer do?
- What is biomedical engineering?
- What is the wide range of disciplines covered?
The talks given by researchers from the Faculty cover interesting topics that are just a drop in the ocean of the fascinating world of biomedical engineering.
During a recent lecture, we had the pleasure of listening to a presentation by the Director of our Centre, Dr Marcin Kaczmarek, Prof. PŚ. “Are metals unforgiving? And is that always a disadvantage?” and watch magic tricks performed with engineering precision!
Recordings of this, and all other lectures in the series (in Polish language) , are available at the link: Silesian University of Technology | From the series: Biomedical Engineering Around Us (polsl.pl)
The next lecture is on 22 February, during the Open Day of the Department of Biomedical Engineering – see you there!
