Dr Michał Kręcichwost, winner of the LIDER competition

Michał Kręcichwost

Dr Michał Kręcichwost, assistant professor at the Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, received funding for the implementation of a project entitled ‘Computer-based speech therapy system for recording and analysing multimodal articulation data using a 4D speaker model and deep learning’.

The aim of the project is to develop a comprehensive system supporting speech therapy diagnostics using modern IT methods. Thanks to the use of 4D speaker models and deep learning techniques, it will be possible to record, analyse and archive articulation data, as well as generate reports supporting the diagnostic process.

The project will develop:

  • a mobile device that records three-dimensional facial images and speech sounds,
  • an expert application that analyses multimodal data using AI,
  • an online platform for visualising results, archiving data and conducting remote speech therapy consultations.

The system will enable, among other things, a more accurate assessment of articulation, support for speech therapy, acceleration of screening among preschool and school-age children, as well as remote diagnosis, which is crucial in the context of limited access to specialists in some regions of the country. The LIDER programme supports young scientists in gaining experience in research project management and developing solutions with high implementation potential. The SpeechCAD project is part of the mission to combine innovative technologies with the real needs of the healthcare and education systems.

Congratulations!
