Dr inż. Agata M. Wijata in TOP 100 Women in Data Science

Dr Agata Wijata, assistant professor at the Silesian University of Technology, honoured once again!
Dr Agata Wijata has been honoured for the second year in a row on the prestigious list of the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2025. This year, the award was granted in the Engineering for a Better World category.
Dr Wijata is an assistant professor at the Silesian University of Technology’s Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, a machine learning researcher at KP Labs, and a visiting scientist at the European Space Agency’s (ESA) $\Phi$-lab in Frascati, Italy. She plays a key role in the Copernicus Hyperspectral Imaging Mission for the Environment (CHIME), focusing on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced data processing.
Dr Wijata’s greatest engineering impact lies in combining artificial intelligence with real-world challenges. Her work provides adaptable tools for optimising AI task schedules on satellite platforms, taking into account sensor parameters in the CHIME (ESA) and Intuition-1 (KP Labs, Poland) missions.
Dr Wijata’s interdisciplinary projects show how AI can realistically support public health, sustainable development and environmental protection. Examples of her activities include:
- Detecting bare soil from orbit (Intuition-1 satellite).
- Automatic methane detection algorithms supporting environmental protection.
- AI-based medical tools to assist in, among other things, chronic wound care, biopsies, diabetes risk assessment and analysis of the impact of air pollution on patient health.
Her achievements represent true engineering for a better future.
We warmly congratulate her and wish her continued success!
