Workshop for students of Volyn National University in Lutsk

Today the EHTIC welcomed a group of 15 staff and students from the Rehabilitation Faculty of Volyn National University in Lutsk.

The guests were welcomed by the host and initiator of the event, Professor Marek Gzik – Director of the EHTIC, together with Professor Bogdan Bacik – Vice-Rector for Science of the AWF, Halina Bieda – Senator of the Third Republic of Poland and Oleksandr Potti – Director of the Polish Campus of Kyiv Medical University.

The visit is connected with a workshop organised by the European HealthTech Innovation Center of the Silesian University of Technology from 11 to 15 September, together with the Jerzy Kukuczka Academy of Physical Education in Katowice and the Upper Silesian Rehabilitation Centre “Repty”, which was possible thanks to the support of Honorary Consulate of Ukraine in Tarnów and the Polish-Ukrainian Institute for Aid and Development.

Thanks to this excellent cooperation, for five consecutive days our guests will learn about the possibilities of applying modern methods of prevention, diagnosis and therapy using modern technologies in motor, neurological and cardiac rehabilitation.

Today’s meeting was hosted by EHTIC, where a workshop on biomechanical methods of locomotor function assessment and the potential use of VR technology in rehabilitation was held. The next two days (12-13 September) of the workshop will be held at the Katowice campus of the Academy of Physical Education, where participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the practical application of therapy methods using modern technologies, both in prevention and diagnosis, and in motor, neurological and cardiac rehabilitation. As part of the campus visit, the Human Movement Department team will present the School of Champions laboratories and studios, and we will introduce the principles of the Virtual Balance Clinic. There will also be time for discussion and sharing of experiences.

The participants will spend Thursday and Friday (14th and 15th September) at the Upper Silesian Rehabilitation Centre “Repty” in Tarnowskie Góry, where they will get to know the structure of the hospital, visit surgeries, exchange experiences and compare physiotherapy performed in Ukraine and Poland, as well as learn the secrets of neurological rehabilitation performed at the Centre.

The skills acquired, which are particularly important, will be used by our Ukrainian guests when they return to their country, where victims of war, including wounded soldiers, are waiting for help.

This special event was held under the patronage of Mr Bartłomiej Babuska, Honorary Consul of Ukraine and President of the Polish-Ukrainian Institute for Aid and Development.
