#We support sport scientifically

This was the motto of a science popularisation campaign on 16 and 17 May, in which the medical staff of the Silesian Medical University in Katowice hosted engineers from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology, and the engineers hosted the medical staff the following day.

The idea of the #sportwspieraMYnaukowo campaign is to give its participants a huge dose of knowledge about health, proper nutrition, sports activities and the possibilities of supporting them with modern technologies.

As part of the event, secondary school students had the opportunity to visit the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Katowice and take part in resuscitation and sports dance workshops with the academic dance group “Dąbrowiacy” from the Silesian University of Technology.

The participants also had the opportunity to listen to extremely interesting lectures by scientists from the Silesian University of Technology, the Medical University of Silesia and the Academy of Physical Education in Pozna?, from which they learned, among others:

  • How can engineers support sports training?
  • What can be done to make sport safe for our health?
  • What happens to us when we move?
  • Do we really know how to run well?
  • What do dance and science have in common?

The meetings were organised as part of the project “After COVID – Popularisation of science and sport as an element of levelling the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic”, implemented by the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology.

We would like to thank the organisers of the event: Silesian University of Technology, Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Centre for Popularisation of Science of Silesian University of Technology, and Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Silesian University of Technology.

EURECA-PRO was a partner of the event.
