The 3rd edition of speech therapy workshop

On 13 and 20 December 2024, EHTIC hosted the third edition of speech therapy workshops organised in cooperation with the Department of Medical Informatics and Artificial Intelligence of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology and the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The training workshops were intended for speech therapy students at the University of Silesia in Katowice. The training programme included, in the first step, a presentation of an examination using an otoscope, conducted by a qualified and experienced hearing technician. In the second stage of the workshop, speech therapy students were tasked with conducting a full range of activities related to interviewing the patient and their family, preparing the patient for the examination, as well as participating in the examination process and discussing recommendations for therapy.

The workshop featured modern equipment for performing hearing tests and assessing higher auditory functions in a room specially adapted for the examination.

The workshop will conclude with a summary lecture by Dr Michał Kręcichwost and a presentation of a web platform for remote diagnosis and speech therapy teleconsultations.
